A Maldives Bandos Island Getaway will nourish your body, mind and soul. Take it from, I indulged here on a stopover, while cruising across the Indian Ocean as an Acupuncturist-at-Sea. For one full, luxurious day, I was a Maldives Diva on the pristine Bandos Island! So, read on to learn how and why a getaway in the Maldives can be the best day of your life.
The Maldives is a unique archipelago state in the Arabian Sea of the Indian Ocean. It consists of 1,190 tiny islands, with only 185 inhabited. Furthermore, the Maldives is the world’s lowest-lying country with an average elevation of 1.5 meters and highest point being only 5.1 meters. It’s one of the most geographically dispersed countries and Asia’s smallest country. Also, the Maldivian Archipelago is located on the Chagos-Laccadive Ridge, an extensive submarine mountain range.
Perhaps, no place on earth is more vulnerable to climate change and rising seas than the Maldives. As the lowest-lying country in the world, experts estimate that the island will be submerged by 2100 from rising seas. Currently, the islands experience intermittent flooding as the sea levels rise. Furthermore, the Maldives already have prepared for rising seas, by creating an artificial island named Hulhumalé and dubbed “City of Hope.”
My Maldives Bandos Island Getaway for a Day
When my ship stopped for a day at the Maldives, I wanted to make the most out of my time. I chose the getaway to Bandos Island, because it didn’t involve a tour. A boat would take and bring us back, with independence to do whatever we dreamed on the island. As we approached, I am thrilled to perceive it like a deserted island paradise. It is so tiny that I could easily walk around its entire shoreline of pearly white beaches. The crystal-clear turquoise waters are stunning and enticing.
Truly, even just a day on Bandos Island is an escape into a dream world of tranquility and rejuvenation. The entire island is a resort with bungalows over water and on land. Additionally, there is the Orchid Spa with Asian treatments and even a Medical Center.
Naturally, there are no cars, just a world of walking or should I say strolling and swimming. Also, there is a Diving and Snorkeling Centre with guides and equipment for exploring the pristine coral reefs.
I went to the island on my own and indulged in a day of solitude as a Maldives Diva.
Overall, I swam, ate at the Sea Breeze Café and laid in the sun and under palm trees. I even indulged in a massage at the Orchid Spa. I am not exaggerating to say that this is the most that I ever felt like I rejuvenated in true getaway and paradise, escaping from the past and future to the pure opulence of now. Also, I was walking out on a dock next to the shallow crystal-clear waters and I saw something incredible. It looked like a baby shark swimming nearby with thankfully no mother along. And even it looked peaceful. Truly this is what I call Healing Travel.
Overall, Maldives Bandos Island Getaway
If I received this much rejuvenation as a Maldives Diva from just 1 day, the affects from being here for days or weeks must be over the moon. So, whatever your duration here, I say from experience, it’s very likely you will be refreshed like never before.
