About Portugal

Portugal comprises of the mainland on the Iberian Peninsula of Europe, along with the Macaronesian Archipelagos of the Azores, Madeira and Savage Islands. Portugal is part of the European Union and Lisbon is the capital and largest city. The mainland is divided by the Tagus River, that flows from Spain and empties in the Atlantic Ocean. Portugal mainland is mostly a Mediterranean Climate, with subtropical climates in the Azores and Madeira. Below are the Portugal Travel Guides from my travels.

Being located on the Mediterranean Basin, Portugal is the third most diverse hotspot of flora in the world. Between the Mediterranean and Atlantic, it has high biodiversity on sea and land. Seventy-one percent of the total forested area of the mainland are Eucalyptus, cork oak and maritime pine.

Top places to explore in Portugal include the capital city Lisbon, beaches in Algarve and The Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela. Other Portugal must-see places are wine cellars of Porto, wineries in Rio Douro Valley and Chapel of Bones in Evora. Additionally, the castles in Sintra, Aveiro and Monsanto are iconic landmarks. On the Portugal archipelagos, the unique and breathtaking islands of the Azores and Madeira should be on everyone’s bucket list.
