About England

As part of the United Kingdom, England covers a little over half of the European island Great Britain. It also includes hundreds of small islands, such as, Isle of Wight and Isles of Scilly. England shares boundaries with Wales to the west and Scotland to the north. The capital is London and outside this metropolitan area are 48 ceremonial counties. England is a constitutional monarchy governed by the United Kingdom Parliament. United Kingdom includes England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The Palace of Westminster is the seat of the United Kingdom Parliament. There are 14 British Overseas Territories, as remnant of the historic British Empire. They are self-governing, with support from United Kingdom for defense and foreign relations. Below are England Travel Guides and British Overseas Territories from my travels.

England’s climate is a temperate maritime with temperatures ranging from as low as 0 degrees C (32 degrees F) in winter and up to 32 degrees C (90 degrees F) in summer. Rainfall is about the same all year round and highest in the west and Lake District. Being close to the Atlantic Ocean, warmed by the Gulf Stream, England remains warmer than other parts of the world at the similar latitudes. United Kingdom is not part of the European Union, and the currency is the British Pound.
