How to Read Your Astrocartography Map for Travel or Relocation

    written by Trudy Wendelin, L.Ac

Have you ever noticed how locations affect you differently?  Astrocartography (ASC) explains this by mapping out your horoscope on the world map.  While travelling to 100+ countries as an astrologer, I researched my own ASC chart.  This revealed how real and useful this is as a tool. I enjoy sharing this wisdom to help others with their life journey. So, read on to learn about how to interpret your own Astrocartography location guide.

    History of Astrocartography

The origins of Astrocartography or Locational Astrology can be traced back to the Medieval and Renaissance time periods.  This is when advancements in mathematics, astronomy and geography surged Mundane and Natal Astrology to high importance.

During the 1970’s, Jim Lewis became known as the “Father of Astrocartography.”  Combining astrological principles with modern mapping techniques, he developed this modality.  Later, as computer software became accessible for everyone, the Astrocartography charts advanced in popularity.

Travel and Location Astrology Answers these Questions:

Where in the world is the best place to take a spiritual journey or retreat?
Where in the world is best for my work, money or career?
Where in the world is best for finding love and relationships?
Where in the world is best for my health and happiness?
Where in the world is the best for me to establish a home or retire?

    What is Astrocartography or
    Travel and Relocation Astrology?

    Travel and Location Astrology Chart
    Princess Diana Astrocartography Chart

The Astrocartography chart is based on the moment of your birth in a relocated place.  In comparison, your natal chart or horoscope is specific to birth time and birth place. It becomes your soul’s blueprint everywhere. However, your Astrocartography chart is unique for each location. It’s based on the planetary/celestial bodies positions in a location at the moment you were born. That resonance continues for a lifetime and activates different parts of you in various locations.

The Astrocartography location guide helps discover your power places on Earth.  It maps out where certain energies within are activated by geographical locations.

Travel & Location Astrology is a valuable tool for navigating our life purpose, that is activated through the power of place.  Charting the course of life cycles in a meaningful way is one of the biggest challenges of life.  Imagine, having a guide for this life adventure and finding your flow in all areas of life through location.

How to Read Your Astrocartography Chart

Beginners will learn most from a professional astrology reading on Astrocartography.  As an avid traveler to 100+ countries and astrologer, I have studied my astrocartography map all over the world.   I am available for Astrocartography Readings.

& How to Find in Astrocartography Chart

    Astrology Chart - Princess Diana
Princess Diana Birth Chart or Horoscope

Planets on the angles of the charts are the most highly activated and influenced by the Cardinal Point.  By knowing your ASC chart, you can relocate to your power places, where a planet is on an angle. Here are the 4 angles with examples from Princess of Wales, Diana’s astrocartography chart.

Midheaven (MC) planet lines are the symbols at the top (north) of the chart with vertical lines stretching south.  These MC lines represent locations in the world that strongly influence your career or recognition in the world.

For example, Neptune lies on Princess Diana’s Midheaven in Bosnia.  In 1997, Diana visited landmine victims in Bosnia as a humanitarian ambassador.  This was considered a compassionate, yet risky crusade.  She manifested Neptune at its highest in service, with a somewhat martyred role.

Nadir (IC) planet lines are the symbols at the nadir or bottom (south) of the chart with vertical lines stretching north.  These IC lines represent locations in the world where you may feel more rooted or at home.

    I share Princess Diana’s ASC/Natal Charts
to show examples of how Astrocartography works.

    Princess Diana
Thanks for this Princess Diana Photo -Provincial Archives of Alberta

For example, Princess Diana’s Jupiter lies on her Nadir (IC) in New York City.  During her solo NYC tour in 1989, America fell in love with her.  She became known for breaking down stigmas for AIDS patients.  In a highly publicized visit to Harlem Hospital, she was hands on with underprivileged children and AIDS patients.  She became a royal icon, breaking barriers between the rich and poor, while reducing stigma of AIDS.

Ascendent (ASC) planet lines are the symbols on sides (east and west) of chart following the wavy line as white (ASC) and black (DSC).   The Ascendant lines activate your personality and persona with the planet on it.

For example, Princess Diana’s Jupiter lies on the ascendant in Angola.  Like Bosnia, she visited Angola as part of her anti-landmine crusade.  Many perceived her as risking her life as she walked through dangerous mine fields.  This publicity sent shockwaves around the world, that a princess endangered her life to speak for the victims.

Descendent (DSC) planet lines are symbols on sides (east and west) of chart following wavy line as white (ASC) and black (DSC).   The Descendent represents your relationships and the people you attract into your life, influenced by the planet on it.

For example, Princess Diana’s Mercury is on the descendent in Paris.  This is where she died with her partner, Dodi Fayad in a car accident while fleeing the paparazzi.  Car transportation corresponds with Mercury/Gemini.  There are 2 monuments for Diana in Paris marking the day the world stopped with grief for the world’s princess.  However, being a lover of the arts, Diana spent many happy days in Paris enjoying shopping, food and the arts.

    Paran Lines Where Angles Intersect

    Astrocartography

Paran Lines show where Mc/Ic and Asc/Dsc intersect on the world map at your birth time.  These are power places where your energetic streams synergize.  Even more, from the intersection point, a longitudinal line is mapped around the world.

For example, Princess Diana’s Paran Lines in Zimbabwe are significant, where her Moon/ASC line intersects with her Venus/Ic line.  Her unconditional maternal love shined her, where she served once again in her humanitarian role.

This time, she broke down barriers with the Red Cross Leprosy Mission in Zimbabwe.  Once again, she offered her tactile, compassionate approach, breaking stigmas for leprosy patients worldwide. (She also continued her work as a Patron of Leprosy to India and Nepal.)

    Relocation Map/Birth Chart

Your relocation chart is just as important as your birth chart.  They should be analyzed individually and compared to each other.  Your birth chart is your blueprint and the same where ever you go.  The relocation chart is cast for a certain location, at the specific time you were born. This will resonate with you for a lifetime.

For example, Princess Diana was born in England.  Her relocation to Sarajevo, Bosnia is interesting in context of her controversial 1997 Anti-land mine Campaign.  She visited and was filmed walking through minefields in Bosnia.

This relocation chart moves her planets to later time placing her compassionate Neptune (martyr) on the Midheaven and her Sun and Mercury in 6th house of service.  Even more, her Capricorn ascendant here personifies the seriousness and restrictive nature of the visit.

    Lastly, Aspects and Midpoints

    Princess Diana’s Aspects in Australia

This is where all the empty spaces on the chart become filled.  The astrological aspects are the relationship or angles between planets.   I utilize the main aspects between planets (trine, square, conjunction, opposition and sextile).  Midpoints are just that, a location half-way between 2 planets.  I interpret the aspects and angles last, to break down the layers of analysis more easily.

For example, Princess Dianna’s Stellium (cluster) of Pluto, Mars, North Node and Uranus form multiple conjunctions with her Ic in Australia.  Also, her Venus/Asc goes through Australia creating 2 Paran lines with North Node/Ic and Moon/Mc.

Princess Di and Charles performed their first Royal Tour in Australia in 1983.  Here, Princess Diana became introduced to the world and everyone fell in love with her.  She once again, broke royalty norms by bringing their eldest son, Prince William.

There are many layers to Travel and Location Astrology or Astrocartography!  This article only scratches the surface.  Hopefully, you found this helpful.  If you want to learn more and get guidance from a professional, contact me for a reading.

If ever there was a time to reconnect with America If ever there was a time to reconnect with American Democracy, it is NOW! Boston is the perfect place known as the "Cradle of Liberty," with many firsts for the USA.

I decided to unplug from the current political reality and celebrate the U.S. historical roots on Independence Day 2025! I visited many historic sites on Boston's Freedom Trail, listened to 2 readings of the Declaration of Independence, interacted with people in colonial costumes and parades.

It was a bittersweet day with many tears and the realization that I have taken democracy for granted. However, I will never let that happen again! I feel more patriotic than ever to make sure the blood, sweat and tears over the last 249 years were not in vain.

Here are the 19 historic sites on the Freedom Trail. For more details, check out my blog:

The world-famous Gouda cheese is named after a cit The world-famous Gouda cheese is named after a city in the heart of the Dutch green lands. Imagine this, the city is just as delectable as the cheese. I am thrilled to share my Gouda Netherlands cheese tour highlights at the city and cheese farm. So, read on and discover reasons why Gouda is the ultimate foodie and cultural tour.

The city Gouda lies in the province of South Holland in the Netherlands. It’s named after the Gouwe River that it surrounds. The city became known for the Gouda cheese traded in its market square. Furthermore, Gouda is famous for stroopwafels, grachten or canals, smoking pipes and its 15th century city hall. Originally, it was a marshland in the 13th century. Later, a canal was built and its estuary became a harbor.

On the Vracar plateau, the Church of Saint Sava is On the Vracar plateau, the Church of Saint Sava is the largest Orthodox church in the Balkans and second largest in the world. Saint Sava is the founder of the Serbian Orthodox church. The church’s construction lasted from 1935 to 1989. It became delayed by WW II and the Yugoslavian communism, that didn’t allow for building churches.

Shaped like a Greek Cross, the facade consists of white marble and granite in a Neo-Byzantine style. Its dome is one of the largest in the world. The mosaics are spectacular, with the central mosaic in the dome depicting the Ascension of Jesus.

Just 15 minutes from Mostar is the Blagaj Dervish Just 15 minutes from Mostar is the Blagaj Dervish Monastery. It sits at the source of the Buna River which flows out of a cave beneath a canyon wall. The beautiful tekke (lodge) displays Ottoman Sufi architecture from the 15th century.

The white building reflects on the turquoise river. Inside you’ll find a small mosque, guest rooms and mausoleums. Dervishes of the Sufi orders stayed here for spiritual retreats over the centuries. Today, it is open for tourist of all faiths to learn about this sacred site and the Sufi tradition.

We explored the riverside and view of Blagaj from across the river. Also, with our shoes off, we enjoyed an indoor tour of the monastery.
