About Canada

Canada is a massive country along the northern border of the United States, extending north to the Arctic Ocean.  It is the second largest country by mass in the world. (Russia is first.)  Also, the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans lie to the west and east, respectively.  Overall, Canada consists of 10 provinces and 3 territories.  The provinces received power from the British North America Act of 1867.  Whereas the territories receive their power from the Parliament of Canada.  The 10 provinces are the following:  Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, British Columbia, Labrador and Manitoba, Prince Edward Island, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland.  Additionally, the 3 territories north of the provinces are Yukon, Nunavut and Northwest Territories.   Canada’s capital is Ottawa, and its three cities are Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.  I wrote the Canada Travel Guides from my adventures here.

Canada became founded by the 3 major groups:  Indigenous people, French Canadian and English Canadian.

Most of the French Canadians bring the language and culture to the province of Quebec.  The English Canadian is particularly evident in British Columbia.  The 3 indigenous people are the Init, Metis and First Nations.  Furthermore, the First Nations are known for their incredible craftsmanship making totem poles.  There are many of them standing in British Columbia.  The have a spiritual significance and are genealogical records and memorials.  Overall, the Canadian population is approximately 35 million and most of them live along the southern border close to the U.S.  The official languages of Canada are Canadian English, Canadian French, French & English. Also, the Currency is the Canadian Dollar.

Additionally, the glass-domed train through the Canadian Rockies is one of the most scenic train trips in the world.  Whistler-Blackcomb in British Columbia near Vancouver has been rated as one of the best ski resorts in the world.  Fun Fact:  The Maple Leaf is the symbol of Canada because the natives first discovered the nutritional properties of the maple sap.
